Here is a look back at the week of Monday, February 3 through Sunday, February 9 for the McPherson County area six small town school basketball programs and a glance at the Fire and EMS runs for the week as well.

In the running of Fire, Fire Rescue and EMS the week totaled 109 runs overall with McPherson Fire & EMS looking at 67 runs while Lindsborg EMS & Fire ran 16 times, Moundridge EMS & Fire went out on 13 runs. Inman Fire/Fire Rescue had six runs while Marquette EMS/Fire had four calls and Canton EMS/Fire had three. A full breakdown of each community runs, and the days will be  posted later today.

As for the area high school basketball, Little River girls are still ranked  number one in Class 1A  Division I while the Moundridge and Inman girls are ranked  third and fifth in Class 2A. For the Moundridge boys are still unbeaten and ranked number one in Class 2A as they make a run at a three-peat state championship. The Elyria Christian boys are ranked fifth in Class 1A Division Ii.

The Elyria Christian boys and girls combined to go 6-0 last week as they both scored wins over Wakefield, Rural Vista, and Herrington. The Eagle boys are 13-4 for the season while the Lady Eagles sit at 10-7.

With both Moundridge boys and girls in the running for state titles, it is  no wonder that they finished the week both 2-0 with each getting wins at home over Berean Academy and on the road at Marion. The Wildcat boys remain unbeaten at 15-0 while the Lady Wildcats are 13-2.

The Teutons of Inman finished the week 3-1 as the boys beat Sedgwick and lost to Remington while the Lady Teutons defeated both Sedgwick and Remington upping their season mark to 13-2. The Teuton boys are 3-12 for the season.

Canton/Galva teams went 3-2 for the week with the Eagle boys winning at Herington and then beating both Peabody/Burns and Linn at home giving them a season record of 9-6. The Lady Eagles lost their road game at Herrington and at home with Linn. With the pair of losses, the Lady Eagles fell below .500 for the season at 7-8.

Little River is incomplete at the boy’s game with Centre has not been reported yet, but the Redskins did beat Solomon at home. The top-ranked Lady Redskins won both games this past week over Solomon on Tuesday and Centre on Friday, the wins kept the Lady Redskins unbeaten at 15-0.

Both the Smoky Valley boys and girls continue to struggle in the 2024/25 season as they won just one of four games last week. The Lady Vikings beat Hoisington on the road before losing to Haven at home, leaving the girls with a season record of 6-9. The Viking boys lost to both Haven and Hoisington to drop them to just 3-12 for the season.

For those teams who have reported game scoring, team, and individual stats as well as maybe  some coach reflections – they will have writes being posted later today or in the morning on Tuesday.
