WILDCATS ROLL TO PAIR OF WINS

MOUNDRIGE – The Moundridge boys basketball team continues to roll as they scored a pair of double-digit wins over Lyons and Hillsboro on Thursday and Friday to finish out hosting the Moundridge Pre-Season Tournament.
On Thursday, the Wildcats took a three-point, 13-10 first quarter lead to a seven point, 27-20 advantage when the teams took a halftime break. After Lyons nipped a pair of points off the lead to just five at 38-33 at the end of the third quarter, Moundridge doubled up Lyons in the fourth quarter, 14-7, to gain the final 12-point, 52-40 victory.
Kaizer Kanitz and Heath Churchill each reached double digits in leading the Wildcats in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Henry Hecox and Zach Dixon came up short as they chipped in with nine and eight points each.
On Friday, Moundridge moved to 4-0 on the season with a 13-point, 53-40 victory over Hillsboro.
After leading by just one point, 10-9, at the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats pushed the lead to eight, 26-18 at halftime and powered ahead by 14, 40-26, by the time they reached the end of the third quarter before finishing out with the 13-point win.
Henry Hecox led the team in scoring with 15 while Heath Churchill finished with 11 and Bear Moddelmog scored nine.
Next up for the two-time defending state champions Wildcats will be a road game at Little River on Tuesday, December 17.
