Lady Redskins Drop Pair in Season Opener

HILLSBORO – The defending state champion Little River volleyball team showed their youth on Tuesday as they dropped a pair of matches in the 2024 season opening triangular at Hillsboro with the Lady Trojans and Ellinwood.
In their first match of the season against Ellinwood, the Lady Redskins lost in straight sets 14-25 and 15-25.
After winning set one, 25-21, the youthful Lady Redskins lost sets two and three to Hillsboro (20-25, 16-25) in losing match two on the day.
Loaded with a roster of underclassman, juniors Havana Olander and Arika Feldman led Little River as both made 17 diggs while Feldman led the team in blocks with 5 and kills with 17 and Olander scored 16 kills.
Fellow juniors Evie Look and Adelynne Strecker also led the team in the stat sheet as Look directed the offense attacks by pounding out 18 assists and Strecker scored 14 diggs.
The Lady Redskins were scheduled to be back on the volleyball court on Thursday at Cheney for a triangular with the Lady Cardinals and the Lady Panthers of Nickerson.
