LADY VIKINGS WIN – MAKE STERLING CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

STERLING – The Smoky Valley girls won their second-round game at the Sterling Tournament on Friday, winning by 15, 52-37 over Scott City to put themselves in the tournament championship game on Saturday.

 

The win evens the Lady Vikings season record at 4-4 as they now prep to play Southeast of Saline on Saturday for the Sterling Tournament  Championship. Southeast of Saline will bring a season record of 7-2 into the game.

 

Pulling out to a nine-point, 17-8, lead at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Vikings took an 11-point, 26-15, advantage into the halftime break before closing out the game by outscoring Scott City 26-22 in the final two quarters and earning the final 15-point victory.

 

Adrian Hazelwood had a solid game as she led Smoky Valley with a team high 23 points while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out three assists. Tinley Scott hit a pair of three-pointers on her way to scoring 11 points and Katja Blanchat just missed double digits with nine points to go along with a team high seven rebounds.
