Scott leads scoring with 16

STERLING – Getting back to the competitive court after several weather delays, the Smoky Valley girls took down Hutchinson Trinity 44-26 in the first round of the Sterling Tournament on Thursday.
Now 3-4 for the season, the Lady Vikings will play Scott City on Friday in the tournament semi-finals with the winner to play Sterling or Ell-Saline on Saturday for the championship.
Smoky Valley took a six-point, 11-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended it out to 16 points at 27-11 at the halftime break before cruising in for the final 18-point victory.
Tinley Scott led the Lady Vikings on offense by scoring 16 points while Adrian Hazelwood scored 11. Katja Blanchat did the bulk of the work in the paint by pulling down a team high eight rebounds.
