INMAN TEUTON CROSS COUNTRY

MARTISKO, ROOTS, SIEMENS MEDAL AT HESSTON

By Staff

HESSTON – At the Hesston Cross Country Special Invitational, the Inman runners performed well with three of the five competing earning medals.

“When it comes to the second meet of the season, the adrenaline isn’t as present so now it is more trying to run as well as the previous meet,” explained Teuton head coach Jay Parsons. “That does not always happen and today was one of those days as each runner competed the best they could.”

In the 5K Boys Junior Division, both Tyler Martisko and Riley Roots earned medals again with Martisko finishing fourth and Roots placing fifth.

Abigail Siemens earned a medal in the 5K Girls Junior Division by placing nineteenth while Addison Wedel just missed out medaling with a placing of twenty-second. Siemens time of 25:33.3 was an improvement of almost a minute over the first meet of the season  and Wedels run  of 26:11.0 meant she dropped three minutes off her previous meet.

In the 5K Boys Freshman Division, Hunter Schrader ran thirty-seventh for the Teutons as he dropped more than 1:30 off his first meet time.

Next up for the Teuton runners will be on Thursday, September 19, when they travel to Bennington.

Coach Parsons concluded his thoughts on the meet and season by saying, “The kids will have an opportunity to run a different kind of course at Bennington. It will be hilly since it will run at Rock City Park. Hopefully, each runner can recover from the tough race at Hesston and get back to what they are capable of doing.”
