TESCOTT – The 2024 season for the Inman cross country program got underway on Wednesday, September 4 with a run at the Tescott Invitational.

“As a coach, I look forward to the first meet of the season as it is a chance to see where everyone is at in terms of conditioning and preparation,” explained Teuton head coach Jay Parsons. “It also gives the new runners a chance to experience what it takes to run in a competitive race. I was not looking for any particular time and/or placing since it is the first meet of the season, my goal for them was to finish the race and compete the best they can. Everyone did just that!!”

It was an amazing beginning of the season for the two Teuton boys running for the varsity as juniors Tyler Martisko and Riley Roots both started their third seasons of running with medals as they finished second and third, respectively.

For the Lady Teutons, junior Abigail Siemens began her third season with a twelfth-place medal and fellow junior Addison Wedel finished 20th in the varsity race.

Freshman Hunter Schrader kicked off his Teuton running career with a 17th place finish in the boy’s junior varsity run.

With the junior high, 1,600-meter runs, the Teutons were well represented with seventh-grader Wyatt Wichert placing 10th in the boys run while seventh grader Teagon Stutzman finished 23rd in the girl’s race.

Coach Parsons completed his reflections on the first meet of the season by adding, “Overall, I was pleased with the start of the racing season. I saw some things that if I can communicate to the runners and get them to understand – we will become better runners and more consistent and competitive.”

Next up for the Teuton cross country program will come on Thursday, September 12 at Hesston for the high school team while the junior high team will run on Tuesday, September 10 at Prairie Hills.
